If you’re fan of taking notes on paper, you can’t go wrong with a Moleskine
What makes this notebook better than the rest? Why not buy the cheapest one at the supermarket or at the nearest office supply store?
Because taking notes is also an emotional experience, and this notebook, a classic since the beginning of the twentieth century, is a vehicle for creative tradition.
They’re really simple. It’s a bond cover notebook with elastic closure and a sewn bookmark at the top. They’re available in several styles: plain, with lines, gridded, and others (there are even some travel editions for each city). My favorite Moleskine is the 3.7 x 5.8 inches plain white one. Its small size makes it more portable and the plain pages allow me to write down ideas and make drawings without being limited by lines or a grid.
The Moleskine is easy to carry and sustains all the abuse you may inflict on it, including the inevitable sweat that notebooks are subject to due to daily use.
As soon as you open one for the first time, you’ll understand why the Moleskine has been the favorite of many writers and artists. One must use the right tools and the Moleskine notebook is not only the right tool, but the object itself is a motivation to keep using it.
